Join us on Thursday, September 11th for Leaders Like Us, Oregon Futures Lab’s annual fundraiser! This year’s event will be held in Portland from 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

Speakers
Sayu Bhojwani
Sayu, a proud New Yorker, made history as the City’s first Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs. Born in India and raised in Belize, she advocates for social change as an author, TED speaker, and social entrepreneur. Sayu founded and led South Asian Youth Action, New American Leaders and Women’s Democracy Lab—each dedicated to advancing a sense of belonging. She is a 2024 Open Society Foundations Equality Fellow and the author of People Like Us: The New Wave of Candidates Knocking at Democracy’s Door, as well as the newsletter No. 1 Immigrant Daughter. In 2024, Sayu was recognized with the 2024 Groundswell Inaugural Vanguard Award as The Self-Care Guru. She serves on the boards of the North Star Fund and the Center for Fiction and is writing her debut novel.
Dahlia Hanson
Dahlia Hanson is a proud sex worker and entrepreneur from Portland. Her path to leadership began as a foster youth and houseless young adult, experiences that shaped her drive for equity and opportunity. She founded Speed-o Cappuccino, a nationally recognized vegan food cart that exclusively hires queer sex workers. Dahlia also serves on the Transportation and Parking Advisory Committee, organizes the award-winning Slut Pedal bike ride, and was the first chairperson of Oregon TRIO’s Student Advisory Board. She is passionate about amplifying queer sex workers and advocating for equitable transportation access.
